LIVE: European Parliament plenary session to discuss EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement: Opening

MEPs are meeting to discuss and vote on giving the European Parliament’s consent to the European Council’s decision in concluding the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement in Brussels on Tuesday, April 27.

The agreement, which has been provisionally applied since January 1, 2021, once approved, will govern the new post-Brexit relationship between the EU and the UK.

The deal establishes trade on zero-tariff/quota terms and covers a wide range of areas, including energy, transport, and fisheries, although extensive non-tariff barriers exist.”
